LEDGER: the INSURANCE INVESTMENT marketplace.

While b2b saas projects can LACK “oomph”, ledger WAS A FASCINATING CLIENT. IT opened the curtain to how insurance works. AND how LEDGER is ENABLING THE CREATION OF MORE COVERAGE, for more people.

Ledger was the most complex project I’ve worked on. Hence me (oddly?) showcasing an otherwise unsexy B2B SaaS Fintech rebrand. I love complex problems. And there’s something about the blank canvas most B2B SaaS companies find themselves in that opens up the potential for creativity. It’s become one of my key interests in the strategy business.

Believe it or not, most insurance is created in private rooms by a select few in Bermuda. Once agreed upon, analysts have to spend loads of effort and time in Excel to churn it out. It’s an arduous, messy, and lengthy process.

Insurance is made by an issuer who has an idea of something to insure. Investors can provide liquidity for it. The liquidity is direct cash to fund insurance claims for the issuer’s insurance idea.

For example, an insurer creates a new form of earthquake insurance for Californians that combines home and auto coverage. He issuers it on the Ledger marketplace for investors to peruse and fund it. Investors do so hoping there are no earthquakes so they can pocket insurance fees.

Why is insurance investing great? Primarily, it’s non-correlated returns. Most investments track the S&P, Crypto, or other finance markets. Insurance is governed by acts of God. So it’s an excellent tool for portfolio diversification.

Ledger tears down the walls that make insurance creation so opaque. It’s the first insurance investment marketplace. Now, anyone can invest in insurance, fast and at scale.

We felt the best way to communicate this was to push against the enemy of opaqueness, mess, and time-intensive insurance creation. Our strategy rallied around a simple word: Precision. Because with Ledger, you can match insurers and investors, fast. It cuts out the glutty middlemen and processes previously endemic to the industry. It creates opportunities for even more coverage, quicker, for more people.

We made sure our web presence and marketing embraced the precise details of what Ledger could offer, in language surgically written for our core audience. Our tone became futuristic to denote Ledger’s forward thinking. Because just simplifying the message didn’t mean it had to be plain.

The result was onramping a slew of pension fund managers and individual brokers who became rockstars to their clients. Betting on the universe’s whims started to make sense to people.
